"Foxtrot" and activists made "ECOclass"
10 finalist teams of III All-Ukrainian competition of environmental projects showed their successful environmental practices and got awards from the organizer and partners. About a million of Ukrainians were involved in the third ecological projects contest
On April the 17th, 2016 award ceremony of best families and school groups who received the title of "ECOclass family" and "ECOclass team" -2016 in the framework of the All-Ukrainian environmental projects contest "ECOclass" -2016 was held in Kiev.
ECOweekend gathered pupils and their families, as well as teachers and principals, environmental activists of different ages from all over Ukraine in the capital's Golf Center on Obolon embankment. Their experience in taking care of the environment conquered the competition jury from "Foxtrot".
This year "EСOclass" united 381 environmental projects from all over Ukraine. Top 5 the most active regions were Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Luhansk, Mykolaiv and Volyn region. The organizers received 287 student`s projects and practical case studies from 94 families. 20,373 pupils and pupil groups, 9092 parents participated in «ECOclass»-2016. In general, 811 540 Ukrainians were involved in the competition.
- Our social project "ECOclass" is evolving constantly - said Vyacheslav Povroznik, executive director of "Foxtrot" trading network, the contest organizer. - This year we haven’t only expanded the audience of participants from school groups to families, but also introduced the Grand Prix. This is the main reward for the authors of the project, which teaches the widest possible range of Ukrainians the ecological culture rules and responsibility.
Sankovski family from Kiev, aunt Irina and niece Anastasia, received «ECOclass» Grand Prix 2016. Their project "Learning through play. Environmental games for children" will be replicated and distributed across Ukraine with the help of a "Foxtrot" network after improvements and recommendations of the leading ecological experts.
- The "Foxtrot" company initiative forms the social demand for environmentally friendly and safe life, instilling the younger generation responsibility for the environment and our country, - said Vladimir Kosterin, "Risk reduction fund" president, partner of the "ECOclass" contest. - Resource efficiency, innovative technologies and solutions introductio, a healthy lifestyle are the criterias of modern society in the world.
While rewarding the authors of the best projects, the contest organizers told about the propaganda effect of the activists’ work in their regions:
– 51 environmental master class for students of primary school age;
– 1286 works for environmental expositions and exhibitions;
– 96 ECOexhibitions;
– 103 ecological flashmobs and concerts;
– 12 eco-fairytales;
– 79 eco- presentations to students and parents;
– 1650 propaganda leaflets, booklets;
– eco-news in 241 school and regional newspapers;
– 38 groups of participants took part in the local TVshows.
Besides education, the participants of "ECOclass"-2016 significantly helped to clean up the environment, as evidenced by the statistics:
– 1470 feeders / birdhouses were made and hung;
– 1.2 tonnes of batteries collected;
– 40 tons of waste paper transmitted for reusing;
– 43 unauthorized dumps dismantled;
– 30 km area cleaned up;
– 870 of indoor plants landed;
– the 35 nature pathways put in order;
– 240 artificial Christmas trees installed;
– 240 live Christmas trees saved;
– 4600 trees, 11,202 shrubs, 15,600 flowers planted;
– 140 flowerbeds developed;
– 38 recreational areas equipped;
– 15 springs cleared.
- ECOclass is extremely useful project for everyone: the environment, the society, for the child and the family, for schools, - said during the awards ceremony the director of the Institute of education content modernization of MES of Ukraine Natalia Vyatkina, "ECOclass" partner. - We are pleased to join the realization of the "ECOclass", and we are thankful to the "Foxtrot" company and colleagues from NENC MES of Ukraine for the idea and implementation.
- The "Foxtrot" company project "ECOclass" is a great example of how the company is contributing to the improvement of Ukrainians environmental situation in the country knowing and increasing the environmental awareness of citizens, - said the director NENC MES of Ukraine, doctor of pedagogical sciences, Professor Vladimir Verbitsky.
During the celebration of "ECOclass" award ceremony guests of the event had a chance to try the beauty-zone, master classes, races, puppet theater, aqua make-up and scientific tricks. All participants of the ceremony got prizes, played ECOgames, took part in competitions, enjoyed performance by famous singer Lilu, had a photoshoot with the star and a festive cake!
