The ceremony of the 18th International Photography Exhibition of newspaper " The Day" was an opening to the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of this issue on november 4, 2016 at the Metropolitan Art Gallery "Lavra."
There were among the guests known representatives of cultural, academic, political elite of Ukraine, of its leading companies, non-profit organisations and the mass media. As Larisa Ivshyna, the chief editor of the newspaper "The Day" said, to the audience were presented a kind of large family album of Ukraine, where is illustrated people who make the face of the country. "And top priority is to show how Ukraine is maturing and developing", - she said. That is why the symbol of the photo exhibition became a wreath of flowers, which is symbolizing unity and invincibility of Ukrainian family and Ukrainian people.
Guests welcomed talented photographers in a friendly atmosphere. Their 350 photos became a retrospective of Ukrainian weekdays and holidays and it was the best gift for the newspaper's birthday "The Day". The most talented photographers from all over Ukraine got awards. The Group of Companies "Foxtrot" became the event partner for the umpteenth time . The work by Alex Lebid' photographer from Kharkiv, entitled "The Power and Tenderness" became the favorite of "Foxtrot" at this photo exhibition."Thanks to the author that he saw this feature of our people: we are strong because we are very sincere in our love and tenderness" - the press secretary of "Foxtrot" Groups of Companies Alevtina Beletska said at the awards ceremony.
Alex Lebid' told how he caught a moment and captured it in a photo. "It was the beginning of this year's autumn draft of regular soldiers and cadets of National Academy of Ukrainian National Guard was talking in front of the recruits. In our platoon there was a girl from Special Operations Command and she showed an acrobatic play. Directly before the performance she asked her friend to braid her hair, so that it was easier to perform her play. I saw this moment, it was a matter of one second, and I captured it in a photo", – told Alex.“I work in the press service of the National Guard of Ukraine and take photos for over 5 years. How did I get to the circle of contenders of the photo exhibition? I was invited by the organizers. When I posted this photo on a social network, it began to spread quickly and the editors of the newspaper "The Day" noticed this photo and invited me to take part in the exhibition.” "Foxtrot" supports talented photographers from 2011, which newspaper "The Day" collects. Among of award-winning artists over this years is Alexander Sinelnikov from Odessa with his work "Hunting with a camera" and Viktor Kovalchuk from Kyiv (author of the picture “I am Ukrainian”). "We will expect for new works from you, Alex. Thank you for such bright emotions"- Alevtina Beletska thanked Alex Lebid' from Kharkiv, who is the author of "The Power and tenderness."
Note: The photo contest is held annually since 1999, it is the brightest "star" in the constellation of social projects of the newspaper. For 17 years as long as this "photo chronicle" is happening, there were 115 photo exhibitions of "The Day" was held in cities of Ukraine,778 photographers received awards, the millions saw our photos. Our editorial jury in 2016 selected from more than 2400 photos 350 the best works of professionals and amateurs. Among the nominations: "Ukrainian World", "Politics", "Photo with own history," "World Children's Eyes" where are presented the authors to 18, and "Birds of water bodies". 18th International Photography Exhibition "The Day" is held at the Metropolitan Gallery "Lavra" (str.
